Town have today revealed their brand new look for 2020/21 with the unveiling of their new home kit for the season ahead.  As the Club head into the 40th season celebration of the famous 1980/81 triumph in Europe, the Blues have worked alongside technical kit partner adidas to develop a celebratory shirt with more than a nod of recognition to Sir Bobby Robson’s successful team.

A Shirt

For the first time since 1995, Town’s home kit carries the historical crest which adorned the shirts on that famous night in Amsterdam. The one-off embroidered crest, which includes celebratory “UEFA CUP 40 YRS” insignia, is also added to the 2020/21 home goalkeeper kit too.

Sir Bobby famously described the ‘80/81 team as his greatest ever Ipswich team – ‘the perfect jigsaw’. This quote is added to the inner back-neck of all adult and junior home shirts.

The Rank Group Plc, who owns Magical Vegas, has ‘gifted’ the front of shirt sponsorship to the charity, Carers Trust and their logo features to the chest.

Carers Trust’s CEO, Gareth Howells, said: “We are thrilled to see unpaid carers recognised with the Carers Trust logo featured on such a special commemorative shirt. On behalf of all the unpaid carers we work with, I’d like to wish Ipswich Town every success for the new season.”

We’re proud of our partnership with Carers Trust and we’re continually looking at ways in which we can further support the charity. We’re delighted that this sponsorship will shine a much needed spotlight on the fantastic work Carers Trust do in supporting unpaid carers across the UK,” said John O’Reilly, Rank chief executive.

The shirt will carry an updated EFL name & number font, once again supporting the EFL’s charity partner, Mind. As reported earlier in the year, fans will also have the opportunity to add the ‘Thank You NHS’ charity logo to the back of their shirt, with all profits raised being added to the fundraising efforts for the local NHS Ipswich & Colchester Hospital’s Charity. A white ribbed rounded v-neck, white sleeve cuffs and adidas’ signature 3-stripe shoulder detailing complete the new look shirt.

The kit is completed with a seasonal change to blue shorts, with white trim, and a refreshed blue home sock with white turnover trim. The new shorts are once again reminiscent of the 2nd leg final against AZ ’67 Alkmaar.

The Mortgagemove.co.uk brand sits prominently on the shorts. Company Principle Nick Golding said ‘‘we are delighted that the Mortgagemove.co.uk logo adorns the new kit which is a tribute to such a successful period in ITFC’s history’’.

adidas, Town’s technical partner since 2014, have manufactured the shirt using their sweat-wicking AEROREADY fabric, which is made with 100% recycled polyester to save resources and decrease emissions.  Breathable mesh panel inserts under the arms of the shirt and within the back of the shorts also assist performance.

Fans can pre-order the brand new kits now at www.itfcshop.com, for immediate delivery as soon as these are received at the club. This is likely to be late-July at the latest, although still to be confirmed due to the ongoing uncertainties caused by the Coronavirus pandemic. Those pre-ordering will not only be the very first to receive their shirts, but will also receive a set of six luxury postcards (worth £15) designed by illustrator George Ripton. Each postcard will depict a scene from the famous ‘80/81 successful journey to the UEFA Cup final.

Due to the current guidelines around social distancing and the advice given to retail stores, the full pre-order process will be online only. Fans will not be able to pre-order the new kit from the Planet Blue store upon it’s re-opening on Friday, 3 July.
