14 April, 2025: LEBOM, the football predictor app, has now hit 50,000 active players across the 2024/25 season – with the platform seeing a 104% year on year increase in active users since the previous campaign.
Formed in 2021 as the digital version of a weekly office game at co-founders Chris Ricketts and Guy Phillips’ previous career in advertising, LEBOM saw steady year-on-year growth before this season’s boom. The platform provides an alternative to traditional football gambling with a focus instead on low stakes, peer-to-peer betting.
With this football season’s players now past the 50,000 mark, the platform has enjoyed an extremely strong retention of 86%, with £3million changing hands between private groups – a 143% increase on the money staked during this campaign.
Ricketts and Phillips are targeting further growth for the rest of this football season and beyond, with the platform’s new game LEBOM Universe – where users are placed in a global league with bigger prizes up for grabs – launching last weekend.
The app offers users a chance to create private leagues of friends, predict the weekend’s big football matches and compete for a shared pot, with the company retaining a 10% game fee from each prize pot. With the relationship between gambling and football under evermore scrutiny LEBOM aims to bring back the excitement of friendly wagers.
The game fosters a more responsible and community-driven betting experience, designed for fans who want to add an extra layer of competition to matchday – without necessarily gambling with a traditional bookmaker.
LEBOM Co-founder Chris Ricketts said: “The numbers speak for themselves – football fans want a betting experience that’s entertaining, responsible, and community-driven. We’ve created a platform that makes betting fun and personal, free from the industry’s usual pressures.
“It’s an alternative to traditional gambling – you can’t chase your losses on LEBOM, and you’re betting against your mates.
“The best is yet to come – we’re really excited about LEBOM Universe and have more ways for fans to play LEBOM coming this summer.”
LEBOM is backed by investment from both the UK media scene as well as betting & gaming sector heavyweights, with a deep expertise in shaping brands, creating cultural impact, and driving commercial success.
