Chinese Team emerges as the over-all winner of BWF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2022, M88 Mansion’s sponsorship to continue on next WBF tournaments

30 August 2022, Tokyo, Japan – The TotalEnergies BWF (Badminton World Federation) World Championships 2022 concluded on August 28 with gold medal matches in five events that were held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium in Japan.

Yamaguchi Akane was the lone shuttler from the host country to finish first place. She beat Chen Yufei of China, 21-12, 10-21, 21-14 in the women’s singles final round. Yamaguchi is also the only reigning titleholder who successfully defended their crown.

With two gold medals, China emerged as the overall winner of this year’s tournament. The teams of Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan (women’s doubles) as well as Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong (mixed doubles) garnered their third championship each in their respective events.

The Asian powerhouse is the most bemedaled contingent as well, bagging two bronzes aside from Chen‘s runner up finish.

Meanwhile, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik became the first Malaysians to win at the BWF World Championships when they defeated the more heralded duo Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Sitiawan of Indonesia in the men’s doubles final, 21-19, 21-14.

Rounding up the top podium finishers is Viktor Axelsen of Denmark, who won against Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand, to claim his second men’s singles World Championship.
